Our Production Process

Ethical Enterprise

At OSIER we believe in equality and the power of collaboration. That’s why we have selected our factory with care. We maintain a warm relationship with all 15 workers in our factory. During our selection process we found it essential to find a factory which not only meets the European standards but accedes them. Our OSIER bags are produced in a certified factory - more on that below -  and we visit the production site regularly to maintain our close relationship and ensure the high manufacturing standards.

Certified Enterprise

It was quite a journey to find the right factory. There is a complex system of legislation which is key to an ethical and sustainable production of our designs. Our factory is based in the EU which means it has to meet certain standards which are stated in the following certificates of our factory.

  • ISO 9001 (Quality Management) - Which means the factory is screened on the quality of their production process and their end products and is fully qualified on this aspect.
  • ISO 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Certification) - Which means that this factory is screened on it’s health and safety management and is fully qualified on this aspect.
  • ISO 14001 (Environmental management) - Which means the factory is screened on the working conditions and pollution in the factory and is fully qualified on this aspect.
  • (NGO on performance sharing around labour rights) - Which means the factory is screened on the working conditions for the workers and is fully qualified on this aspect.

The factory has been monitored with SEDEX. Sedex is a global membership organisation that prides itself on making it simpler to do business that’s good for everyone. They are home to one of the world’s largest collaborative platforms for sharing responsible sourcing data on supply chains, used by more than 50,000 members in over 150 countries. Tens of thousands of companies use Sedex to manage their performance around labour rights, health & safety, the environment and business ethics. Their services enable members to bring together many kinds of different data, standards and certifications, to make informed business decisions, and to drive continuous improvement across their value chains.

Our Materials

We get inspired by nature every day, that’s why we strive to use materials that don’t harm any animals or our planet. We use various vegan leathers in our production, the scientific terms are PU (polyurethane) and PVC (polyvinylchloride). PU is less harmful for the environment than PVC and its use is definitely preferred, whenever possible.

Our production process

The OSIER journey starts in Amsterdam. We create our OSIER bags with a lot of creativity, patience and endurance. Theresa Jentzsch, the founder and creative director, is responsible for the designs and chief designer Fiona translates these ideas into the unique OSIER designs on the drawing board. Only the best designs get selected and defined during this process.

Based on these designs we continue our journey to source the best materials in Europe as close to our factory as possible. We believe local production is key towards a more sustainable future. The OSIER bag is manufactured in Romania and so is the packaging. After a long search we were able to find the best raw materials from Italy. It is our mission to keep searching for the most sustainable materials suiting our signature.

During the production we process all information and feedback from the factory of the production process during multiple prototyping cycles in order to get the best result. We believe that striving for the highest quality is essential for a sustainable product. Our bags are produced with the creativity, patience and endurance from the designing table all the way to the customer. It took us more than a year to come to the perfect ethical and sustainable capsule collection with the OSIER signature. We believe patience and time will lead to the greatest products. Every bag gets worked on by at least five people. Every touch is crucial and part of the unique OSIER journey. The heavy work gets done by the machines and the creative and loving part gets done by our passionate workers. A perfect balance and collaboration on which we thrive to built our company.
