Our Production Process
At OSIER we believe in equality and the power of collaboration. That’s why we have selected our factory with care. We maintain a warm relationship with all 15 workers in our factory. During our selection process we found it essential to find a factory which not only meets the European manufacturing standards, but accedes them. Our OSIER bags are produced in a certified factory - more on that below - and we visit the production site regularly to maintain our close relationship and ensure the high manufacturing standards.
We compensate the CO2 that is released through the making of our bags with green wind energy.
Our factory is based in the heart of Bucharest. When manufacturing in the European Union, factories like ours have to meet certain standards to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the factory workers, meet environmental requirements and ensure the quality of all products that are being made.
- ISO 9001 (Quality Management) - Meaning our factory gets screened on the quality of their production process and the final products and is fully qualified on this aspect.
- ISO 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Management Certification) - Which means that our factory gets evaluated on it’s health and safety management and is fully qualified to manufacture under safe conditions.
- ISO 14001 (Environmental management) - Which means the factory is screened on the working conditions and pollution in the factory and is fully qualified on this aspect.
- The factory works within the framework set up by SEDEX.
Sedex is home to one of the world's largest collaborative platforms for sharing responsible sourcing data on supply chains, used by more than 55000 members.
We get inspired by nature every day, that’s why we strive to use materials that don’t harm any animals or our planet. We use various vegan leathers in our production, the scientific terms are PU (polyurethane) and PVC (polyvinylchloride). PU is less harmful for the environment than PVC and its use is definitely preferred, whenever possible. OSIER is always striving to work with more sustainable materials whilst ensuring the quality and durability of our products.
Our production process
The OSIER journey starts in Amsterdam. We create our OSIER bags with a lot of creativity, patience and endurance. Theresa Jentzsch, the founder and creative director, is responsible for the designs and chief designer Fiona translates these ideas into the unique OSIER designs on the drawing board.
Based on these designs we continue our journey to source the best materials in Europe as close to our factory as possible. We believe local production is key towards a more sustainable future. The OSIER bag is manufactured in Romania and so is the packaging. All materials used in the making of our bags come from Italy.
Every bag gets worked on by at least five people. Every touch is crucial and part of the unique OSIER journey. A perfect balance and collaboration on which we thrive to built our company.
